Oral B iO9 Electric Toothbrush Review

Oral B have a new iO Electric Toothbrush, the iO9, which is better than ever before. It has some seriously cool features that make brushing your teeth the best it’s ever been. I’ve been trialling the new White Alabaster iO9 to tell you all about.

Dentists always recommend electric toothbrushes for the best dental hygiene and care, but the new Oral B iO9 takes this to a whole new level – the features on this toothbrush are amazing.

What you get in the box

When you buy the Oral B iO9, you get the toothbrush handle and a head, a handy travel charging holder, a case to keep the heads (ideal if you share a toothbrush with someone else and use a head each) and the magnetic charger. You will need an adaptor plug for the charger.

Features of the Oral B iO 9

The Oral B iO 9 toothbrush has Bluetooth, so you can link it up to the Oral B app on your phone and it detects your brushing technique, length and tells you how well you cleaned your teeth.

It has a timer which shows you when you’ve completed two minutes and beyond. If you reach two minutes you get a smiley face, over that you get star eyes and any less and it gives you a sad face to indicate you haven’t brushed long enough! It fully holds you to account when cleaning your gnashers!

The brush also has 3D teeth tracking with A.I, which monitors your brushing across the front, top and back surfaces of your teeth; guiding you to the most thorough possible clean. The app shows you where you’re brushing, and whether you’ve brushed it enough, by glowing up the area in dark blue, gradually getting lighter until it’s sparkling white to show you it’s completely clean.. very clever!

The iO9 has an interactive colour display that greets you as you power up, shows you the seven different smart modes to personalise your brushing and allows you to change the colour band.

The different modes to choose from include: Daily Clean, Sensitive, Gum Care, Intense Clean, Whitening, Tongue Cleaner, Super Sensitive.

There’s a smart pressure sensor that signals red, white or green to alert you whether you’re brushing too hard, too softly or with just the right amount of pressure.

The magnetic charger has lock-in-place stability and gives a three hour quick charge and comes with a charging travel case to charge your brush when travelling.

Overall

I found this toothbrush really has revolutionised the way I clean my teeth and whether I brush the right places for the right length of time. I definitely didn’t clean my teeth for two minutes before! It has really made me think about properly brushing and my teeth do genuinely feel so much cleaner after than ever before. I used a manual toothbrush for so long until I recently purchased a cheap electric one which I liked, then since using the Oral B iO it really is a next level clean. However, would I pay £500 for it? Personally, no. But it is a very good brush and if you have that kind of money to pay for a toothbrush then go for it!
